Our Mission
Together with working land communities, we implement transformative land management practices to create vibrant, productive, and self-regenerating environments.
What We Do
It All Starts with Water
Healthy ecosystems are diverse, self-regenerating networks. But over time, draining water from these systems dehydrates and weakens our landscapes. Without water, plants dry, die, or burn. Bare, exposed soil heats in the sun and continues to dry, leading to a cycle of depletion, rising temperatures, and fires. But it doesn’t have to be that way…
Abuelitos develops and implements simple, proven methods to reverse the trend of dehydration and revitalize our ecosystems.
How We Do It
01
Land Labs
Abuelitos harnesses the collective potential of communities by illustrating our roles in creating a better future. We ensure all voices are heard to achieve maximum benefit for everyone in the community.
Together with community partners, we create Land Labs - pilot projects to develop and demonstrate strategies, and showcase and share results with other working land stewards.
02
Stewardship Councils
We build leadership within our farmland communities to drive progress through site-specific regional Stewardship Councils.
It is only through collaborative collectives that we will create enduring benefits for our regional climate, and beyond. We build the world we imagine. Our future is ours to create.
03
Education and Outreach
Our outreach and education programs exponentially expand the transformative power of our adaptive practices.
Whether through workshops, partnerships or published resources, we strive to make sustainable practices readily available and actionable for all.
